Ah ha! This picture was taken during the 'Lepak Day' at the Lagenda Beach. Appearantly, our fun and laughter had to stop early because it had started to rain... I'm not quite sure of the name of that island though.....(Langkawi has 99 other small islands surrounding it, just for you to know...)

Shafika (Syef)- She sat in front of me, next to Jue. In 404 however, she sat beside me. One thing I love about her is her handwriting. Hers is like a doctor's but in a readable way. Nice and neat. I really don't know why our Bahasa Melayu teacher, Cikgu Johan, said that her handwriting is horrible and even said that to the whole batch during an exam post-moterm in the Grand Hall. I could never understand... I've known her because we were put in the same class during the second semester of form four. One more thing, she had a very sweet laughter!

Alyaa - The Secretary-General. Really sweet in nature. Haha, don't let her demure looks fool you. She is a sportswoman of all sorts; badminton, sprint, basketball, tennis, you name it! Luckily she is a Jupiter (member of the Green House, the same as me)! A quiet girl sometimes, but I've heard stories that she can really give you a fight if you ever made her mad! To me, she is like a big sister because she can really make you feel comfortable and cared for.



Juwairiah (Jue) - *Bangun pagi nampak dia, nak tidur pun nampak dia* Haha, who else? Of course la my roomate for two years... Her bed is next to mine, what can I say? Jue-one word to describe her- shopaholic, but only during outings. She seldom buys things from the koop, don't ask me why. One thing for sure, she cares and loves her family so much, especially her nephew. Another good thing about her is that, she will ALWAYS read a book before going to bed. And of course, she sleeps with a pile of books beside her. Oh yeah, I forgot to mention, she is the Honourable Treasurer of Urayville for three semesters. I was once a class treasurer,and mind you, it was so hard to handle all the money! Thanks Jue for all the things you've done for us. (FYI, kelas kitorang tak payah bayar duit kelas bulanan, OoOo!)

Okay, wanna know 8 juicy facts about me? Fine...

1. When I was small, I've always wanted to become a mermaid (the side effect of watching The Little Mermaid 1 and 2). Now... Ermm.. Maybe not, I guess. Considering the amount of pollution in today's oceans... (Except in Tioman, Sipadan, The Great Barrier Reef and The Maldives... and so on..)
2. I HATE injections. Remember that BCG injection we got in Standard 6? Yup, that fateful day. I actually fainted and broke my tooth.
3. The name 'Wanimas' was actually a shorter form of 'Wanita bergigi emas'(because I am wearing braces), given to me by Pak Hassan. Coincidently, my name is Wany! So, it kinda fits.. However, other names appeared too : WaniGold(given by Chom), WanyPlatinum(because I like platinum more than gold). All in all, I prefer people calling me Wany thank you very much.
4. I don't happen to have a favourite colour. To me, it depends on the shade of the colours. I like hijau pucuk pisang but I dislike hijau-seluar-budak-laki-sekolah-menengah.
5. I've attended SMKA(P)Al-Mashoor, Penang for four years and a month before 'migrating' to MJSC Langkawi. I bet most of you don't know that!
6. Sometimes, I feel like I want to cry for no obvious reason. And if I don't cry, I will feel so miserable, for no obvious reason too. Therefore, I will 'try' to cry by walking down memory lane...
7. I prefer to do things alone, although I love other people's companionship.
8. I prefer to write in English because I love my mother tongue so much I hate to write in broken Bahasa Melayu.

So, that is me. Believe it or not..

Steps

1. Be prepared to put in a lot of time. Becoming a doctor requires more training than most other jobs. It usually takes at least 11 years to become a doctor: 4 years of college, 4 years of medical school, and 3 years working in a hospital (residency training). For some specialties, doctors may have to work in a hospital for up to 8 years before they can practice.
   
2. Start early. In high school, study a lot of science including biology, chemistry, and physics. Math courses including algebra, geometry, trigonometry, and calculus are also useful. English is also essential in becoming a doctor. Volunteering at a local hospital or doctor's office will help to start recognizing medicine and diseases.
   
3. Keep on task. In college, maintain a high grade point average. The competition for medical school is intense. Students in college must study a lot of science, including organic and inorganic chemistry, math, English. Studying humanities and social sciences in college are also useful.
   
4. Take the Medical College Admissions Test (MCAT).
   
5. Go to medical school. You'll spend your first two years studying lots of science courses. You'll also learn to take medical histories, examine patients, and diagnose illnesses. In your last two years, students work with patients under the supervision of experienced physicians in hospitals and clinics, learning acute, chronic, preventive, and rehabilitative care.
   
6. Enter your residency training period in a hospital setting in which you earn a salary while you are trained. Residency typically lasts about three years. Some specialties may require as much as eight years of residency training before they are licensed to practice.
   

Tips

• Have a backup plan. Sadly not everyone who wants to be a doctor will make it. There are still lots of careers in the health field, such as registered nurses, vocational nurses, etc. But note that many applicants had to apply more than once to get accepted.
  
• Competition to get into medical school is intense so a lot of community service, volunteering, and experiences that allow you to learn and display leadership are important in high school and college to set you apart from other applicants.
  
• Research experience in medicine or the basic sciences is a another important component of a strong application that will set you apart from others - especially if you get published in a medical journal or present at a medical conference.
  

Warnings

• Be prepared to work long and irregular hours in your career. Over one third of doctors in 2007 work over 60 hours a week.
  
• Be prepared to repay an enormous loan since becoming a doctor is very expensive. (*Sometimes once you begin practing, the hospital or employer you work for will pay off your loans.)
  
• Be prepared to take frequent refresher courses throughout your career.

International Baccalaureate.

*It is the same as A-Level in terms of pre-university program, according to some source.
*The duration of study is two years.
*It is easier than A-Level, according to our seniors. Probably their curricular is not as detailed as A-Level.
*For the IB Diploma programme, the students have to take six (6) subjects.
*Three of the subjects are taken at higher level, ie, 240 teaching hours.
*The rest is taken at standard level, ie, 180 hours.
*Instead of using A,B,C,... as a grading system, IB uses points;1,2,3,4,5,6 and 7. *7 is the highest grade.
*Apart from written exam, to obtain an IB Diploma, students must complete an Extended Essay, CAS and Theory of Knowledge course.
*CAS is the short form of Creative, Action and Service (if I'm not mistaken) and this is the main difference (in my opinion) between IB and A-Level.
*Students have to complete 180 hours of community service work,artistic pursuits or other character-building activities in order to pass CAS.
*Extended Essay (this is what I understand from the website) is a task for the student to write 4000-word essay on a topic of individual interest, related to an independent research.
*In Malaysia, there are 6 schools offering the IB Diploma programme; Kolej MARA Banting, Kolej MARA Seremban, KDU Smart School Sdn. Bhd.(private), International School of Kuala Lumpur(private), The International School of Penang (private) and Mon't Kiara International School(private).
*The medium of teaching in Malaysia is English.
*Example of subjects include : Malay A1, Arabic Ab. SL, Biology HL, Bus.& Man. SL, Chemistry HL, Economics HL, Economics SL, English B HL, English B SL, Information Technology in Global Society SL, Malay A1 SL, Mathematics HL, Physics HL, Physics SL and Theory Knowl. TK. Haha, actually I have a cousin studying in Kolej MARA Seremban and she is my main source of info. My other source, is Brother Norshah. I love to read his blog especially his entries about his life in Kolej MARA Banting. Very very funny I tell you! Do check out his blog. I have his link somewhere on the right... Oh yeah, I found out that Brother Khairul Shahir is studying in KDU Smart School undertaking the IB Diploma. You can find the link to his blog in Brother Norshah's link.

FYI, I don't have any specific infos about A-Level yet. The only thing that I know is, their syllabi are more detailed than of the IB. A-Level does not require you to complete CAS, Theory of Knowledge and Extended Essay. And A-Level is more recognised by Universities, although IB Diploma is gaining popularity worldwide and is getting more recognition year by year.


I personally advice you to take IB because it sounds fun and exciting!

What is A-level?

INTRODUCTION
The Australian Matriculation (AUSMAT) Programme is a one-and-a-half-year package for selected students to further their studies in Australia and New Zealand. Courses are conducted based on the curriculum set by the Senior Secondary Assessment Board of South Australia (SSABSA), Adelaide. Students will acquire the South Australian Certificate of Education (SACE) which is recognized by all Australian and New Zealand universities. It is also accepted by universities in the United Kingdom and Canada. Fadhilat Surah Al-Fatihah.

Diantara fadhilat membacanya menurut beberapa Hadis Rasulullah SAW:

-Mendapat pahala seperti membaca sepertiga Al-Quran
-Untuk memohon sesuatu hajat yang baik (eg. SPM straight A1 or dapat scholarship or anythin' else) kepada Allah SWT, baca 41 kali setiap hari, waktunya di antara solat sunat Subuh dan solat Fardhu Subuh.

Fadhilat Surah Al-Kahfi

-Imam Ahmad berkata."Daripada Abi Darda' daripada Nabi SAW, baginda telah bersabda,'Sesiapa yang menghafaz sepuluh ayat daripada permulaan surah Al-Kahfi, Maka terhindar daripada Al-Dajjal'. (Riwayat Muslim, Abu Daud, Al-Nasa'i, Al-Tarmizi daripada Qatadah)
-Daripada Umar berkata Nabi SAW telah bersabda : 'Sesiapa yang membaca surah Al- Kahfi pada hari Jumaat, maka bersinarlah cahaya daripada bawah kakinya hingga ke langit. Untuknya cahaya dihari kiamat dan diampunkannya antara dua Jumaat. (Hadis Riwayat Ibnu Kathir)

Fadhilat Surah As-Sajdah

-Hadith Riwayat Al-Bukhari daripada Abu Hurairah r.a. berkata: ' Adalah Nabi SAW membaca pada solat fajar (subuh) pada hari Jumaat (Alif Laam Mim Tanzil) As-Sajdah dan (Hal Ata Alal Insan) Insan.'
-Diriwayatkan Imam Ahmad daripada Jabir berkata: 'Adalah Nabi SAW tidak tidur hingga dibaca surah As-Sajdah dan Al-Mulk.'

Fadhilat Surah Yasin

- Daripada Abdullah berkata: Rasulullah SAW telah bersabda : 'Sesiapa yang membaca surah Yaasiin waktu malam untuk mendapat keredhaan Allah SWT, maka akan diberi keampunan baginya.' (Hadis Riwayat Ibnu Katsir)
-Daripada Anas, Rasulullah SAW bersabda : ' Setiap sesuatu ada hati dan hati Al-Quran adalah Yaasiin' dan sesiapa yang membaca Yaasiin, maka Allah SWT tulis baginya sepertimana membaca Al-Quran sepuluh kali. (Hadis Riwayat At-Tarmizi)

Fadhilat Surah Ad-Dukhan

- Daripada Abi Hurairah r.a. berkata: Nabi SAW telah bersabda : 'Sesiapa membaca surah 'Haamim Ad-Dukhan' pada waktu malam, maka esoknya tujuh puluh ribu malaikat akan meminta ampun baginya.'(Hadis Riwayat Ibnu Katsir)

Fadhilat Surah Al-Waqiah

-Daripada Abi Dhibah berkata: 'Telah sakit Abdullah yang boleh menyebabkan kematiannya. Maka diziarahi oleh Osman Ibnu Affan r.a., beliau bertanya, apa yang kamu adukan? Beliau (Abdullah) menjawab : Dosa-dosaku. (Osman): Apa yang kamu mahu sekarang? (Abdullah): Rahmat Tuhanku. (Osman): Perlukah saya panggil doktor? Abdullah menjawab, doktor lebih sakit daripada saya.

Osman berkata:'Adakah kamu perlukan kepada wang..'
Abdullah : Saya tidak berhajat kepadanya.
Osman: Ini untuk anak-anak perempuan kamu selepas ketiadaan kamu.
Abdullah: Adakah kamu takut anak-anak perempuan saya jadi miskin? Sesungguhnya saya perintah kepada mereka supaya baca surah Al-Waqiah tiap-tiap malam. Sesungguhnya saya dengar Rasulullah SAW bersabda: 'Sesiapa membaca surah Al-Waqiah tidak akan jadi miskin selama-lamanya'.

Fadhilat Surah Al-Hasyar

- Daripada Fadhil Ibnu Yassar Al-Muzani r.a. berkata: Nabi SAW telah bersabda: 'Sesiapa membaca ketika bangkit Subuh 'A'uuzubillahis-Sami'il-'alimi-minas-syaitanir-rajim' kemudian membaca tiga ayat akhir surah Al-Hasyar maka Allah SWT mewakilkan 70 malaikat berselawat atasnya hingga petang. Begitu juga waktu petang dan jika dia meninggal hari itu dikira mati syahid. (Hadis Riwayat At-Tarmizi)

Fadhilat Surah Al-Mulk

-Daripada Abi Hurairah r.a. dari Rasulullah SAW bersabda: 'Sesungguhnya di dalam Al-Quran ada tiga puluh ayat memberi syafaat kepada pembacanya hingga diberi keampunan untuknya iaitu Surah Al-Mulk 'Tabaarakal-Lazi'.

Mom bought huge black bag. Pillows. New Baju Kurungs at Kamdar. New shiny black shoes. Shoe polish too of course. Excited? Me? Yes. But not ready to leave Almashoor behind. Really not ready....

Last day at Almashoor. No need to hand in homework anymore. Hugged and kissed teacher's hand. Hugged friends. Signed 'Surat Berhenti Sekolah'. Bid goodbye to Bumi Almashoor. Remembered my first day here. Last ride home on Bas TH. Cried? No. Watery eyes? Yes. Sad? Yes. Am I doing the right thing? Not sure....

20th February 2006.


What a long queue. Put on a very uneasy face. Because I was feeling uneasy. Made friends with Jaja BWP. Then with Farah. Felt better. Got a blue card from a senior. No Maktab-'06246'. Registered. Checked into my room-TL 14. Second floor, first room on the left. Warm welcome from roomates- Jue, Aishah, Ili. The only 'budak government' in TL14.

1st Semester 2006.

Class-412 Argentum. Classmates-18 girls, 5 guys. 'Budak Government'-only class. Class teacher? Unknown. Hard time? Sometimes. Happy? Maybe. Yes is more appropriate. Best moment-Water Fest and Hari Sukan. Not sure la. Life? Managable. Dirty laundry went to the Bakul Dobi. Hungry? Rarely. Food's kinda tasty. Congratulations Team Dewan Selera. Alhamdulillah, joined Koop and PUM. Prodigy Sdn. Bhd. Was the 'kuli' sometimes. But overall, a nice experience. Note to self: get a thesaurus immediately. Couldn't figure out other words besides 'nice'.

2nd Semester 2006.

Changed class. Mixed with Ex-MRSM. 404, 4 Uranium @ Urayville.15 girls and 8 guys. Nice classmates. Sat next to Syef, last row on the right. Couldn't remember anything else other than that fateful day when Cikgu Aishah cried. Class teacher? Cikgu Johan.

1st Semester 2007.

Missed Cikgu Norlia and Ustaz Romli. And Mr. Anuar Asfandi and HEP, Cikgu Anuar. And Mdm Marwati. Missed my homeroom advisor too, Mdm Nooraizza.New Pengetua. Came all the way from Johor. Missed old Pengetua, Cikgu Ahmad Sanusi. Class were still the same, thank God. Sat at the front row, next to Husna and Abe. In front of Marni. Cikgu Aminah taught Chemistry, yeah! Mdm Hazaleen taught English, cool! Class teacher, Miss Maslynda. Cousin, Wahida, registered as Form Four. Very happy indeed. Somehow Faizah, I called her Faiz, became my best buddy. Oh yeah, they said Langkawi is not a Bitara anymore. We'll see about that. Cool girl, 'apa ada pada nama', right? Anyway, welcome Form Ones. In the meantime, PG,PG and more Program Gemilang.

2nd Semester 2007.

Best and most compact semester ever. Maybe because SPM. PG continues. Non-stop I must say. Weighed the hand-outs given. A staggering 4 kilogram. Highlights of the semester includes Annual Dinner, Majlis Doa Restu, Graduation Day, Majlis Mohon Restu, Buka Puasa with teachers and classmates, went to pasar malam with classmates, dinner, dinner and more dinner. Not a surprise if I gained 4 kilos that I desperately need to lose. Oh yeah, Lepak Day at Lagenda Beach. Activity week? Hmmm.. Not as enjoyable as the other three. Thank you teachers for organising it. Trial came. SPM was done. Now what?
The day before graduation. Asked him. He said it was just rumours. Trusted. Grad day. Saw it. Shouted 'Geli giler!'. Left. Before that. Asked him. He said he couldn't see. Trusted again. January. Saw it. Very sad. Just forget it! Foolish, idiotic, maniac, lunatic me gain. Hope not to happen again.
26th November 2007.

SPM Biology was today. Paper three ended. Hooray? Hmmm. No. Sad. Performed my last Asar at the Surau. Packed. In a rush. Rush I tell you. And I hate it. Hate it. Last day in MRSM Langkawi as a student. The next time I come here, I will be an ex-student. Did not look at it. Did not cry. Why? Because I was mad. Really mad. No proper goodbye. Everybody just left. My heart cried.

18th February 2008.

Wahida's sister, Khalida, registered in MRSM Taiping. Nice.

Salam. Went shopping just now. Giant Bayan Lepas. Near my old school, Sekolah Kebangsaan Seri Permai. Hot. No other word to describe it. But glad that the air-conditioner worked. Not so hot anymore. Bought some stuff. Lotion. Baby Johnson's Milk Lotion. Old time favourite. Nice smell. Not so strong like the Original one. Smooth texture. Not so thick. Just my taste.

Bought ice cream. RM0.99. Cheap. But tasty. Especially in the hot sun. Sunday is today. Obviously.

Approached by an uncle. Not so old. But have thick moustache. Greying hair. Enough of him already. Was given three pieces of paper. One. Two. Three. Wahid. Isnain. Thalathah. Uno. Dos. Tres. Eik. Erk. San. Satu. Dua. Tiga.

If you paid my blog a visit yesterday, it was of a different layout. It was pretty, flowery and nice but overall too white..

Mind you, it's not easy to change the background. You have to find the 'right' and 'safe' site, then you have to choose the ones that nobody within your circle of friends and aquaintances had chosen, later the downloading of that thing, and the last but definitely the Worst; the adjustments to the code.

Like Amii once said, "It doesn't matter if you guys like it or not, I love it" (somehow it sounded different, I think.., but it has the same message....). And the same goes to me. I Love this background so much because it has the classy and feminine feeling in it.. Just the right combination of things I like.. You have the right not to like it,but you know what? It doesn't bother me at all.(because I personally think that you'll like it as well!)

All of us are unique and we live in a free world (but not to cross the Islamic boundaries, of course). So, of course we will have different tastes, likes and dislikes. As long as it's not causing jeopardy to this world, we are free to like and dislike. Who can arrest me if I say that I hate Picasso's masterpiece?(not that I've ever seen one..)

It all depends on us. It's how we percieve the world that's important, not others. The human being is the most complex living organism that roams the surface of Earth. Being complex allows us to have different views. If we were to please each and every one of these humans by doing whatever the things that they like, then it will be a total waste of time because it will never happen. Never, never, never!

Conclusion : Sometimes, being selfish does make you fell better. But don't follow this advice that often. It can destroy your life.I've given you a warning, right? So, it's up to you to make the call....

There are other fun activities too, but I am too tired to include them. Maybe I will tell about them later...One thing for sure, I'm missing every bit of those memories, be it sweet or not...

Wahaha! Tak ku sangka boley dapat Wireless Internet di kampungku yang nyaman dan damai ini. Kedengaran pak Bilal melaungkan azan dengan penuh khusyu' di Masjid Al-Ghufran. Terdetik di hatiku ingin menunaikan solat Asar, lalu akan ku tuju ke bilik air sebentar lagi untuk mengambil wudu' seterusnya melaksanakan perintah Yang Maha Esa. Solat Zohor tadi sengaja ku tak Jama'kan dengan Asar. Mungkin kerana ku ingin bertemu dengan Penciptaku dengan lebih kerap....

Kini, akan ku habiskan coretanku, lalu akan ku 'log out' dan ku tekan butang merah bertanda X.

Okay, since everybody is talking about UPU, matrix la, tahmidi la and so on and so forth, it seems like today's young Malaysians are working hard to make themselves 'modal insan' bak kata Pak Lah. Good! Che Det's Vision 2020 might be accomplishable before 2020 if all of us work hard and work smart plus having strong faith in Allah. I registered to MJSC Langkawi. And so, the best journey of my life so far, had started...Met new friends, learn new things... and the list just goes on and on...

I don't count them really... Do you?

I don't have any idea what to name this post nor do I have any idea what to write... So, here goes..

This headache is making my head heavy. I feel like I want to sleep, but it is not advisable to sleep after Asar. I'm just going to write until I can hear the Maghrib's azan...

Manissa texted me just now. She is in Penang today, attending a funeral. We texted and we texted until I've had enough... I did not enjoy text messaging to be honest. My phone's keypad is such a nuisance..

So, I gave her a call. She was reluctant to pick the phone up during my first call. I called again and she answered on the second ring.

"Salam! Oh yeah, the closing date for the Bratz thingy is on the ninth. You better be hurry.."
"...yadyadyada..."
"... uh huh.. Oh.."
"Oh really? I didn't know that...."
"I see...."
"When are you coming to KL?"
"Aiya, cannot la.. It's very hard for me to travel alone here in Penang and you expect me to go to KL? Why don't you come to Penang for the EduFair? It's on the first and second of March.."
"It's the same like the one in KL what?"
"Yalah, but this time I'm gonna be there, InsyaAllah. Of course it won't be the same with me around..."
"....bla..bla...bla.."
"You know about Amii?? She......"
"oH..."
"And Kay ay..."
"I see... You know, our class is now 201."
"Oh, I thought 504..."
"No lah. And the form twos are not that okay with the form fives..."
"I didn't know that..."

And we talked, and talked, and talked. I updated her with Amii's latest news [her current unemployment], Kay Ay's [he's building houses] and some of mine. I told her of my secret [the one that I told you, Amii..] and she promised not to slip the secret out....[she better!] I told her about the Bratz camp and the upcoming Public Speaking Competition too. And how to add links to her blog..

She told me a few important stuff and updated me with the latest news from Langkawi. Appearently, the teachers have to stay back until 4 something three days a week. Wow, that's a bit harsh, I guess. Cikgu Aminah is the HEA, I think everyone knows that.. And 504 is now the class for 201. Manissa even said that the form fives said that they were compared to our batch by the teachers.. In terms of what, I'm not sure.. But, our batch wasn't that good either, frankly speaking. We did screw up once in a while...

That nearly twenty minute call was really what I'm looking for to ease my headache. I felt a lot better, thanks to you, Manissa. Alhamdulillah.

So, I better stop now. Need to get a shower and give my hair the shampooing it needs... I'll catch up with you guys later okay?

P/S: I named this post 'Untitled' at first, but then I changed it to 'The Call'.. It reminds me of the song by BackstreetBoys.. Not that it had any connection to this story whatsoever...
